A very thorough & practical book on just what the title describes. Inspiring, educational, highly recommended.

An out of print booklet that proceeded the later book.

Forest Gardening

 Robert Hart: Green Earth Books. ISBN: 1-900322-02-1

 

An excellent introduction to the ideas behind Forest gardening from a man who has left us a very great legacy.

From the fryer to the fuel tank

 Joshua Tickell: Tickell Energy Consulting. ISBN: 0-9707227-0-2

 

An excellent book about converting any diesel engined vehicle to run on waste vegetable oil. Well worth a read, despite the part suppliers list being all American companies.

Living Energies

 Callum Coats: Gateway Books. ISBN: 0-946551-97-9

 

An excellent introduction to the vast amount of research done by Viktor Schauberger on natural energy. A fascinating read, though a bit technical in places for the non-scientist.

Still the primary text in the Permaculture World, full of lots of really valuable information & ideas. Very extensive!

First of the two books that preceded the Designer's Manual. Covers the ideas behind Permaculture, more theoretical than book two.
