Everything is a Gift - A Pond made from an Old Bath Here we see a small pond in the corner of a garden. What is perhaps not immediately apparent is that it has been made out of an old bath. OK, so the size & shape do give it away once you know, but the point is that a bath is designed to hold water, which makes it ideal as a small garden pond. Of course any clumsy wildlife that fell in would need a shallow end to climb out of. This was achieved by building up a slope along the bottom using old bricks & hardcore & laying gravel over the top - all surplus items dug out of the ground. This provided a 'beach' at one end that became a popular bathing spot for the local birdlife. In fact this whole bed was made using reclaimed rocks & topsoil. |
