Energy Cycling - Harvests One of the cycles that we have to make the most of is the seasonal food cycle. If we don't harvest enough of the sun's energy during the summer in the form of food then we won't make it through the winter months. This harvest can be stored both inside our bodies, by building up our nutrient reserves when food is more plentiful or kept to be eaten later when there is little growing. Whether we are harvesting rainwater, soil fertility or food, we are really harvesting sunshine. So we design to harvest the sun's energy in whatever form we can; which might be by planting trees & storing it in growing timber or by creating lakes to catch rain & then use them to generate hydro-electricity. How else could you harvest sunshine at home? |
